A Little Something Extra

I know this post is coming a little late, however, although I do have things in my collection I still need to review, I wanted to take a break from the review and haul posts for a while. I hope that my favourites will have a little more variety than other peoples posts, but we shall see. I will try and go in order of how I would apply my face. Primer: This is something new that came to me at the end of the year but I can already tell its a firm favourite. I was always using the Becca Backlight Priming Filter which I still love however it wasn't doing anything to smooth texture and minimise pores, so I decided to try out a Jeffree Star recommendation, the Touch In Sol No Poreblem Primer . This really smooths out my skin and creates a perfect canvas for my foundation. This is, however, a little mattifying, so it makes dewy foundations look more like a velvet finish. If you saw my last blog post you'll know that I bought the Shade and Light Glimmer Palette by Kat Von D. The main reason why I wanted this so bad was because it claims to have 4 different finishes in one palette, and it also goes along with the first matte palette.  Can we talk about the packaging? The outside carton is so nice the way it shines in the light. The font is exactly the same as it is on the original shade and light, the differences are that the glimmer palette has the glitter accents, and the original has the gold and black lacquered embossed letters. The Glimmer palette has plastic packaging compared to the Shade and Light Matte Palette which has the cardboard packaging. I have to say I think that although the stand out letters looks really nice, I can't help but feel as if I like the cardboard packaging more. Debenhams is the only retailer in the Uk that stocks Kat Von D beauty products. Sometimes when something limited edition like the Saint and Sinner palette ill make sure I've saved money for it and purchase it from Sephora, however, when you know something permanent is on the line, and it's going to come to the Uk soon, I'll wait until it's in Debenhams. Something that I've wanted to try for a while are the Everlasting lip liners. They have been available in Sephora for quite a while and its taken months for it to become available over here in the Uk, so when I was browsing the other day and saw them, I knew I had to pick one up to test out the formula. Then that obviously led to me buying a couple of other things as well...oops.  I picked up the lip liner in the shade Lolita. I already own the liquid lipstick version of this and love it. I thought this would be a great everyday lipliner as it doesn't really need to be paired with the liquid lipstick...

Ok, so it might look like I am spending a ton, but my last haul was the last month, as it took so long to get here.  I have to address if you have read the blog post before this one, you'll know I am all about the limited edition palettes. When I first saw this palette I have to admit that I didn't really immediately fall in love with the shade selections. The packaging is phenomenal, but the shades I found to be a bit meh as they are not traditionally grouped together to similar tones, and they are a little all over the place. I knew I was going to buy it because I have a thing where the lusting after the limited edition holiday palette by Kat Von D just gets to me. Now, I have to put a disclaimer here. Yes, you read the title of this post correctly, I love these palettes so much but I baby them and don't use them. Some of the palettes that I own are either limited edition or expensive so I don't use these day to day, and I'll only use them on a special occasion. I baby these so much, that I keep most of my palettes in their original boxes. The first palette that I consider to be one of my favourite children is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette. I bought this palette when it first initially launched from all the way from Sephora US. After using this a little I fell in love and felt like I never had a bad eye look day, and when the reviews came flooding in I was so happy that I have it. However, I knew I would continue to use it every day and eventually hit pan, and the fear of hitting pan go to me, and I decided to retire the palette for the time being. Following my recent blog post of my top 5 red lipsticks, I have decided to also share my top 5 nudes. I wear these on most days rather than a red lip, so you might already have these in your collections. My most favourite nude that I own is the Nudestix Lip and Cheek Pencil in the shade Whisper. When I do not want to wear a bronzed look I go for this shade. It's a perfect nude for when I am wearing a neutral or cool toned look. When I go out I often wear this shade as, although it isn't a long-wearing formula, It's a lipstick and liner in one so I can just throw it in my bag. I also love it as a blush. The fanciest nude shade that I own is the Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick in the shade Kim KW. You can never go wrong with a red lip in my opinion. If I have to face the outside world and have no idea what to do with my face, I will skip the perfect eyeshadow look to a simple wing and a classic red lip. I own a lot of lip products and I have a fair few red shades from different brands with different formulas. These will be my personal top recommendations for anyone who is looking for a statement red lip. Mac Ruby Woo For anyone who knows anything about the beauty industry, Macs Ruby Woo Retro Matte bullet lipstick is a cult classic. It's a blue based red making it a really versatile shade that suits everyone. I have seen this shade on multiple skin tones with multiple looks, and its safe to say if you haven't found your red shade yet, give this a go. The only downside I would have to say with this particular lipstick is that it's quite drying. After months of waiting, I finally have this in my hands. I have been wanting the Kat Von D Alchemist Palette ever since I saw her very first sketches on her Instagram. It has been available in the US since before Christmas and it finally became available in the Uk on the 2nd of May. I had it marked on my calendar but I completely forgot until the 3rd and it was already sold out. A couple of weeks later, however, it became back in stock and I bought it straight away, along with two of her new everlasting liquid lipstick shades, Ophelia and Ludwig.  It states on the Debenhams website that she has been working on the formula for years. From what I can tell this is unlike anything that I know. They are nothing like an ordinary highlight. The shades have a transparent base, however, when the light shines at the swatches the pigmented pearl-like sheen, shows off the colour. Kat Von D - Thin formula and dries quickly, clings on to the lips. One of the best formulas that are on the market in my opinion. Kat Von D has been out in the USA on Sephora for a few years now and to start off with I remember they were selling out like hot cakes. I don't really remember any other brand that sold liquid lipsticks getting as much hype as Kat Von D at that time and for good reason. The cult favourite shade from her line is called Lolita.The formula has been changed twice now for it to be made vegan. I own the latest of the formulation so I cannot compare it to the other two versions, however, it's still one of the top selling shades in her line. I have shades from the lightest to the darkest in the line, and I have to say the formula stays pretty much consistent. The darker shades need a little extra work however once you get it on it lasts for hours. These are the longest wearing liquid lipsticks I own so that's a plus, however, what comes with time...
