Spectrum Collections 8 Piece Eye Blending Set Review

I know these brushes are nothing new on the market, however, I have really been wanting new eye brushes lately. I was tempted to go in the BeautyBay site and buy lots of Morphee brushes, however, I wanted to try a brand that I've never used before.

I've seen Spectrum brushes on quite a few Instagram accounts and when I saw they were available at boots I thought I'd give them a try. I bought the 8 piece eyeshadow collection for £29.

I thought I would test them for a couple of days in a row, not using any other brand of brushes, and tell you how I feel about them.

This is how they are described on the Boots Website, and I've also included how I use them with comparisons if there are any.
  • A16 - Precision Crease – Use for precise application of cream and powder eye colour to the crease of the eyelid.- So far I have only used this brush for the inner corner of the eye. It's flat and precise and picks up just the right amount of product. I think this would be a very good rush to use with packing on glitter as well.
  • B06 - Tall Tapered Blender – Use to blend out colour or build up the shade in the contours of the eye. - I have used this shade as directed. The only brush I have similar to this is my Morphe (noM441) brush, however, that's slightly tapered whilst this is flat.
  • B04 - Small Angled Shader – Use the soft angle of the brush to add shading to the outer corners and colour fades in the crease. - I personally think this collection can do without this brush and include a sharp angled brush for either brows or liner. The only way I use this is to apply smokey definition along my lashes, and then apply a darker colour to my inner corner to create a halo eye.
  • A08 - Medium Fluffy Shader – Use to apply the product to the whole eye area, or build shade in the outer corners while keeping a beautifully blended finish.- I haven't felt the need to use this brush for the time that I've been using the collection. I think that the B06 basically does the same thing.
  • A07 - Stubby Shader – Use to create super smokey eyes or apply very pigmented colour.- I use this to pack colour onto my lid space and then to blend the lower lashline. It's just a slightly bigger version of the A13.
  • A12- Fluffy Pencil – Use to highlight the inner corners, add depth of colour to the crease, or smoke and blend out the upper and lower lash line.- Another brush I haven't used yet. I can see myself using it to add the inner corner highlight, but I think I would use it more for adding definition to the outer corner with dark shadow.
  • A13 - Short Smudge – Use to apply powder or cream eye shadow around the lash line, to get a soft and smudgy effect. - I have used this brush as directed. I used it with a mac paint pot along with my lower lashes and it blends out really well.
  • C06 - Tulip Eye Contour – Use in the socket to add depth and definition.- This brush is really fat so I mostly use this clean to either blend out my create so colours mesh together or to apply a little product on the outer corner of my eye and blend into the crease. A similar brush in my collection is the real techniques bold metals in the number 100, however, that's a little more rounded and shorter.

I really like these brushes after using them for a while, but I do have a couple of points. As I said earlier, the collection could be improved with a strong sharp angled brush for eyeliner or brows.
I think the set could benefit from another fluffier brush for the crease. A bigger more fluffy version of the C06 would be great.

I like the Anastasia Beverly Hills No 12 brush or the Mac 208 for brows as well as eyeliner. I would also suggest as said previous the Morphe M441 or the Mac 217 for a fluffier blending brush.
Other than these I don't think I would find the ich to use a brush from outside of this collection. Would I recommend this collection? I would recommend this if you don't have a lot of eyeshadow brushes, to begin with. Other than the other two options that I just gave, you'll have every brush you'll ever need. I would suggest this if you have loads of eye brushes though unless you just want to beef up your collection.

Here are some looks that I wore during the week. I only used brushes from the collection :

Excuse my brows in these photos, I know they need doing but, if you liked this post and the photos, let me know if you'd like to see more looks. I am new at posting makeup looks as I personally find them hard to capture. If you guys have any suggestions on what you'd like to see next please comment. I love responding and looking at suggestions.

Many Thanks x
