Make Up Geek Shadows

Make Up Geek Shadows have made their way to the Uk. Watching the American beauty gurus go on about their make up geek shadows in their Z Palettes made me really jealous. Before, the only way you can get a personalized palette here was to go to MAC. Personally, that system didn't appeal to me. The Mac counter that is closest to me is in Chester, which is over an hour away. Granted I could buy the pans and the palette online however when you look at the price comparison there is a big difference. Mac pan shadows are £10 each while the Make Up Geek shadows on the Beauty Bay Website are £4.95. From what Ive swatched of Mac shadows every time I've been at a counter, the Make Up Geek shadows do compare in quality. They even compare to Urban Decay shadows which are my fave.

When I was looking at the colour selection, I wanted a few shades that I knew I would use. This is so even if they turned out to be not so good I could still use the colours. Luckily for me they are pretty fantastic.

  • Peach Smoothie : This is a matte pastel orange that is slightly yellow toned. I thought this would be great to use as a transition shade to use in the summer for more golden looks. This is how its described on their website "Nothing is as refreshing and fun as one of our favorite summer treats, a peach smoothie. Now the same mouthwatering color that draws us in can be used to adorn your eyes. This light peach/beige color has a soft matte finish which makes it ideal for blending out harsh shades or on the lower lid to help create a stunning neutral look".
  • Latte : At first I thought this shade was a matte brown that I could use on the daily to define my crease. although I do like cool tones, I decided to change things up and get a slightly warmer brown for a softer definition. Upon closer inspection there are tiny specks of shimmer running through the powder however its barely noticeable. This is how its described on their website, "Start your day right with the warm, creamy goodness of this shadow. It may not satisfy your caffeine fix, but it will feed your cosmetic addiction one MUG at a time. Matte Medium Brown." Even though you can even see the shimmer on their stock photo.
  • Petal Pusher : Possibly my favorite shade that I purchased. This is a great crease colour for a subtle pop of colour, and with an all over purple look its brilliant. This is how its described on the website, "Everything’s coming up roses! A fresh take on the iconic 50’s style (without the funny trousers!) Petal Pusher is a flattering, fallout-free matte eyeshadow that wears well on just about anyone. Petal Pusher is a medium rose brown with a matte finish. " And i have to agree, its defiantly matte.
All swatched with no primer underneath.

  • Vintage : A cool toned dark plumb shade. I got this so I could smoke out a matte eye look that has a little something extra, I love this shade but you need to choose the correct colours to go with it as it can look like a bruise. This is what its described as on the website , " No need to hit the thrift store, this eyeshadow is a rare find of the gorgeous kind. Not to mention, Vintage has what it takes to stand the test of time—its classic color and high-quality formulation will outlast those trendy eyeshadows. It’s a one of a kind treasure—score!"
  • Bitten : This shade is really unique in my collection and I don't really have anything like it. Its a deep burgundy shade thats more on the brown side rather than a purple. This is how its described on the website, " Dracula, Vampires, Werewolfs: pick your poison.  They sting only at first bite, but they leave behind this beautiful deep red color. Matte deep maroon red."
  • Curfew : Possibly the loudest purple that I own. I haven't worn it yet but I am dying for an occasion to do so. This is its description on their website, " When it comes to Curfew, it’s ok to break the rules! Party all night with this exquisite matte eyeshadow— its incredible formulation will have you dazzling from dusk ‘til dawn. Pick up this shade and be fashionably late! Curfew is a medium plum purple with a matte finish."
I still need to buy a palette to put all of these in, but I might save that until the next time I cross the Beauty Bay Website to pick up new colours. That will be really soon..
